In an emergency, will you know what to do, where to go, how to get information?
Gentry's outdoor storm sirens will be phased out in favor of modern, more reliable emergency notification technology that will keep residents safer and better informed during severe weather and other emergencies.
Why it's a better option:
🔸 Reaches you wherever you are — Sirens only work outdoors. Modern alerts reach your phone no matter where you are.
🔸 Delivers specific, actionable information — Know exactly what the threat is and what to do, not just that something's wrong.
🔸 Works for individual needs — Customize alerts by location, hazard type, and even for family members elsewhere.
🔸 Faster and more precise — Real-time updates as conditions change.
🔸 Accessible for residents — Alerts can be read aloud through phone or smart speaker (helpful for residents who are blind or have low vision), sent in multiple languages, and delivered as visual, flashing, or vibrating notifications for residents who are deaf or hard of hearing.
📢 To continue receiving timely warnings, all residents are encouraged to sign up for Benton Co Alert, our county's official emergency notification system.
Prefer other options? You can also use local news/weather apps, NOAA Weather Radio, or the National Weather Service's Wireless Emergency Alerts.
